Joseph M. Dooley attended Southern Methodist University, where he graduated in 1983 with a B.A. and a B.S. degree. He then went on to law school, earning his Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent Law School in 1988. He received his license to practice law in Illinois in 1988. He was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1989 where he is a member of the trial bar. He is a member of the Illinois and American Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He also holds the distinction of membership in the Society of Trial Lawyers. Joseph M. Dooley takes pride in his community involvement, having served as commissioner of the Board of Commissioners of the Winnetka Park District from 1993-2003 where he was elected to serve as President of the Board of Commissioners from 1994-2001. Currently Dooley serves on the boards of the Winnetka Parks Foundation (2003-present) and the Winnetka Historical Society 2004-present.
